"Kent, UK:
Great visit- beautiful setting, lovely food, and great game drives, thank you"
Ekorian’s Mugie Camp is made up of 6 spacious but cosy tents, each covered by a papyrus roof and raised on wooden decks. Each tent has an en suite bathroom with hot and cold plumbed water and flush toilets.
The first tent has a kids annex attached, it’s the perfect spot for small children who are not ready for their own tent.
All the lighting is solar powered. There are charging points in reception area. There are no facilities for hair driers and other such like electrical appliances.
Being eco-conscious, we try to reduce our use of plastic products therefore we do not supply bottled water; instead we collect rainwater and boil and filter it for drinking. We supply reusable water bottles on the game drives and recycled wine bottles in rooms. See “Throttle the Bottle” for more information.
The camp is surrounded by a stonewall and electric fence, which allows you walk safely around camp without worrying about bumping into elephant and buffalo.
A small eco-friendly pool set in a wooden deck overlooking a water hole. This is a great area to chill out after a busy morning out in the conservancy. The pool is fresh water and chemical-free.
We focus on wholesome, tasty, home cooked meals, using local ingredients purchased in the local markets or neighboring farms. We have a small vegetable garden where we grow all our own salads, herbs and other vegetables. Our two chefs have been trained in camp by Donna and have a natural flair for fresh, home cooked food.
Start the day with a hot cup of Kenyan tea or coffee and home-made cookies to prevent the tummy rumbles before heading out on a game drive. Arrive back in camp to a full English breakfast served;or enjoy it out in the bush, with freshly-made toast, farm eggs, home made pastries, yoghurt, granola, jams and marmalades.
A light lunch back at camp or a picnic out in the bush is always served buffet style, with vibrant home grown salads and freshly baked bread.
Fresh cakes or cookies for traditional 4 o’clock tea taken after a quick siesta.
Homemade bitings for sundowners on the plains, then back to camp for dinner where your starters are served under the stars by the open-air fire, while you relax with a cold G&T in hand!
Discuss the adventures you have had over a hearty, candlelit meal in the dining tent.
Meals are either held in the dining area, by the pool, or out in the bush, depending on how you would like to spend your day.
We are happy to accommodate any special dietary requirements. Just let us know in advance.
We do laundry daily in camp. All the laundry is hand washed and dried in the sun.
The Mugie school is located on the ranch and has 175 Children including 19 disabled children. The headmaster of the School is an incredibly inspiring gentleman who specialized in special needs children, hence the section developed for these children, most of whom come from the town north of Mugie, Maralal
