A True Oasis
Ekorian's Mugie Camp feels like a home away from home, and caters to the whole family, everything from our family-style dining to our wide range of activities. Camp is composed of six accommodation tents (each raised on wooden decks and covered with a papyrus roof), a communal mess tent for sitting and dining, a reception area, a shady deck adjoining the swimming pool (overlooking a watering hole), dotted along a grassy lawn with native aloe and flower beds. The camp is surrounded by a stonewall and electric fence, which allows you walk around camp, and children to play safely, without a worry.

Various activities in camp keep everyone occupied during down-time, such as volleyball, bird watching, traditional archery, spear throwing, lawn games, and our trampoline and fresh water, chemical-free swimming pool.
Each of our tents is en-suite with hot running water and flush toilets, and can be configured to be a twin or double arrangement. Tent one is nearest to the mess tent and has a kids' annex, so it is perfect for families.

The camp is eco-conscious and 'silver' eco rated by the Kenya eco-tourism board. We use solar power (we can't accommodate hair dryers or electric razors), we make every effort to minimize our use of plastic products (we do not supply bottled water, instead we collect rainwater and boil and filter it for drinking and supply reusable water bottles on the game drives and drinking water in recycled glass bottles in the rooms). All of the toiletries supplied in the rooms are organic and locally made, and the items that we sell in our camp shop are locally produced (most of them in support of a good cause - including beadwork made in collaboration with our own charity, The Moyo Foundation).
Safari Cuisine
We focus on wholesome, tasty, home cooked meals, using local ingredients purchased in the local markets or from neighboring farms. We have a small vegetable garden where we grow all our own salads, herbs, and other vegetables. Our chefs have a natural flair for fresh, home cooked food.Meals are held in the mess tent, by the pool, or out in the bush, depending on how you would like to spend your day. Please note that we are happy to accommodate dietary requirements, just let us know in advance please.

Start the day with a hot cup of Kenyan tea or coffee and home-made biscuits to prevent the tummy rumbles before heading out on a game drive. Arrive back in camp to a full English breakfast served; or enjoy it out in the bush, with freshly-made toast, farm eggs, home-made pastries, yoghurt, granola, jams and marmalades.

A light lunch back at camp, or a picnic on the deck overlooking the dam, is always a delight with vibrant home grown salads and freshly baked bread.

Fresh cakes or cookies for a traditional afternoon tea follow a siesta in the breezy comfort of your tent.

And then homemade bitings are a delicious treat along with sundowners on your game drive. Returning to camp for starters served under the stars by the camp fire, as you relax with a drink in hand. And discussing the day's adventures over a delicious, candlelit meal in the dining tent.
